MAC Address Authentication in 3COM layer 3 switch 4500 series 26 port

Hi long time not posting something in this blog, actually I’ve done this thing about 2 weeks ago, but I don’t have time to write (busy with other configuration that haven’t done yet till now…hicks…).

So here is the idea, my boss wants everyone in the office can only access the network if their machine have been authorized. S he asked how to do it, so I said by make some checking in the MAC address. But the problem is I don’t know how :p. Then I did endless search in Google and found nothing!!!

Then what comes up in my mind is joining a group or forum in internet, finally I managed to find one, the name is 3COM user group, you can visit the group with my complete posting in:

I have to say many thanks to the admin Maxouz for the help.

Sun Ray with Sun Fire Server

Here is my not perfect understanding about this one. I will make further research about this one, since this also one of my job in my internship place.

IT guys, when you do programming all you have to do is just sit in front of your computer, write the code, process it by using your computer, and that’s it done. Well the key difference with Sun Ray that is the user still do the same thing, it just that all the process is not happening in your computer, but it happen in your server. So the job of Sun Ray is to provide the “remote desktop” interface to the user, to use this software you have to use some device that called thin client, and when you use this you have to input some card as your identification to log on to the server. It will cost around 75 USD for each client. My company said that it is the first pilot project in Indonesia that is supported by Sun Microsystem.

My office has some difficulties in managing this one, so they have not launch it. So if there anyone that has some knowledge in it, perhaps you can help us.

Today in Cikarang, most of the time is filled with rain, I planned to finish my problem with campus, but it’s all failed. First the person that holding my confirmation letter is not coming home yet until around 4 p.m. and that already too late, since the campus is already closed. So I decide to let my sister finish it.

In Cikarang Again and Happyyyy

Today I am in Cikarang, I have to finish some of internship documentation in my campus. So I didn’t go to my office today. I went from Jakarta to Cikarang around 13 or something, and there is this quite anoying traffic jam in Pancoran…

Finally I arrived in Cikarang…I go to the dorm first to change my short pants, there is a new rule that bother me…showing ID…huh I think that rule will be forgotten easily, like usual…So I change my pants, go to campus, after meeting the people that I wanted to meet, I go to library to read some news. after that I went to receptionist to meet mbak Eva to take Yosua’s meal coupon, but I have to wait for a long time. When I waiting for the people to come…suddenly there is this one of my ex-senior that said Hiii or hello to me, my mind went blank at that time…to my surprise she said that…because she is one of the most beautiful girls in campus…of course to my opinion…wow…..I’m so happy….

My New Workplace

Since I’m one of the President University student, I have to complete twos semester of internship. So i get this one company in Sudirman, that deals with software engineering. But my interest is not in software, I prefer to networking. So by the help of Bayu, thanks Bro, I managed to get internship place at that company in networking field.

Hiiii Happy New Year

Hii all new year has already passed, there are a lot of things that happened since my last post. Here I will tell you the story.

On 31st December I moved out from my dormitory to the “kos2” an in Jakarta. I planned to write something in my blog that day, but I cannot since my connection to the wireless is already over. So at noon, around 12 or something I took all my stuff to be moved in an “angkot”, yup it was an “angkot”. We, Yulius, Ivan, Paskal, and I, think that it would be cheaper to use angkot than Taxi. So we go by angkot….what a tiring advanture, we were missed the turn that would take us to the “kosan”, so we have to took another way. And that makes my “angkot” driver mad…so he decided to drop us in front of Police station. Yulius said that it wasn’t too far if we go by foot. So we follow his idea. But his idea is really a bad one…since we have to go back and forth to take our “STUFFS” that is not a little one…it made my arm hurts so much. After a marathon likes move out, finally it’s all finished
